About The Colour Of Our Products

Organic certification allows certain biodegradable, low impact dyes to be used when producing fabrics. This certification allows oxy, hydrogen peroxide bleach to provide the whiteness to the fabrics. ‘Ultra White’ chemical is NOT used on our fabrics. For those who like to have white or to see a bit of colour in their bedroom, we have introduced these oxygen bleached and SAFELY dyed bed linen to our range.

ABOUT THE CERTIFICATION: All our fabrics and filling are certified GOTS, (Global Organic Cotton Standard). This means that all our ‘Natural’ and ‘Dyed fabrics are GOTS certified. We do not sell anything else.

ABOUT THE DYES: The dyes used to colour the fabrics are low impact chemical dyes. ‘Vegetable’ and ‘Herb’ dyes are not able to be economically produced on a large scale.

ORGANIC COTTON IS BETTER: The difference with organic cotton textiles and conventional textiles is that certified organic cotton textiles are not treated with harmful chemicals such as colour fastener, wrinkle free, non-iron and lately fragrances, all of which are chemicals harmful to both the planet and humans. These treatments are not needed with certified organic textiles due to the fact that 100% cotton and even 95% cotton 5% elastane, (which is also permitted under GOTS: 5% elastane is the limit), absorb the dyes without further treatment with setting chemicals.

These Cosy flannel fabrics are a brushed cotton – not a flannelette – and they are about 280 – 285 gsm. Some people like to call it luxury organic flannel. Perfect for warming up on those chilly nights. This fabric is raw, which means it is un-dyed and has natural flecks in the colouration. Available in Natural ONLY. However, there is a beautiful Organic Cream Cosy Flannel that has been coloured with a very light cream low-impact, non-harmful dye.

Our Organic Poplin range is made from Australian Organic cotton and natural in colour, using no bleach and no dye. Unless otherwise stated, the colour of this fabric is “natural”, (similar to calico). Washing will whiten the fabric over a period of time. Washing in chemical detergents will bleach these natural fabrics quickly … but we do NOT recommend the use of these chemical detergents as they will destroy the “organic” nature of the products.

A beautifully soft Organic cotton flannel which has a lightly brushed suede finish, ideal for those colder nights. Unlike “flannelette” our organic cotton will not fluff or Pull out of shape. Our flannel is 100% GOTS Certified Organic fabric. Available in Natural ONLY. This fabric is raw, natural in colour and contains no bleaches or dyes. It has natural flecks in the colouration. Due to the fabric being organic, these products are made slightly larger to allow for shrinkage.
